The Strategic Plan Technical Oversight Committee presents the following:
An important goal of the Missouri Community Forestry Council is to encourage scientifically based, technically correct, urban forest management techniques and actions, including correct tree selection, planting, and care.
To that end, a standing “Technical Oversight Committee” was established, whose job is to monitor, investigate, and evaluate urban forest management actions and techniques, and to recommend, for Council consideration, those that are suitable for Missouri conditions and needs.
The committee was chartered by July 1, 2006, and the following team of experts agreed to serve in this capacity:
Dr. Chris Starbuck, retired Professor of Horticulture at the University of Missouri at Columbia
Tim Frevert, retired MDC Landscape Architect, and Consulting Landscape Architect at Jefferson City
Kevin Harrel, Certified Arborist & Owner, Arbor Care of the Ozarks at Springfield
Eugene L. Brunk, retired forester from MDC at Jefferson City, Chairman
The initial project of the panel was to compile a reference manual of management techniques. It can be accessed from this site.
